A Montana Gem

In the fall of 2020, one of our very own Platinum Properties team members set out and started a new chapter for Stacey’s Old Faithful Bar & Steakhouse in Gallatin Gateway. Offering a combination of history, community, amazing food, and a camaraderie that boasts the unique charm of a rustic bar and contemporary eatery.

In 1937, May Ping Sellards established Old Faithful Bar. Once a butcher shop and bank, it was converted into the perfect gathering place for loggers, ranchers & locals. Featuring live music and cold beer, this was the place to be in Gallatin Gateway.

This iconic bar changed hands once more in 1963 before landing in the hands of Brett Evje and other partners in 2016. During the renovation process they wanted to make sure to keep it close to its founding concept. “These old country bars are slowly disappearing, and if we don’t do our duty to bring them into the 21st century, we’ll lose them for good,” Evje says.

As you walk into the establishment, there is no doubt that Stacey’s is still the good old Stacey’s. If you are headed toward Big Sky, you will find this hidden gem located off U.S. 191. You can find the wood-paneled bar filled most afternoons as regulars greet each other while enjoying beverages after work, with the jukebox heard from outside. “These spots are important to Montana,” Evje says.
